i can't tell if that is natural or not, i have a feeling it is not altered by the hand of man, more pix with no shadows on the rock would help.

Well, I guess my real question is, does anyone know where I can find a data base for ancient Chinese script?

Hmmm. I don’t think it’s chinese. The script you are referring to would be jia gu wen 甲骨文 which translates into shell bone script. They would write it on turtle shells and animal bones. It does look a bit like jia gu wen but that could just be pareidolia. It could be someone’s attempt to write/carve on a rock. I would research the local area’s history to see if it’s of local aboriginal origin. Good luck.
