Can anyone tell me more on Montreal token?

I found this today, and after cleaning I see that it is a Canadian token from Montreal with the bust of a man on the obverse and the date 1691. Now after doing my research I understand the token has little value but I was curious as to its origins and the year it was minted. Any input would be appreciated.
