true but i keep thinking if i had found that viking bracelet.... mine, mine, mine lol.

I might have thought it for a split second as well. But the Law over here (& there) means its a reportable Treasure item. Over here, I would either get the market value & it end up in a Museum, or it's disclaimed & returned to me if no museum is interested. The Viking Ingot I found last year will probably be the first item they want to keep, everything else I have had return (Dad had 1 Roman Ring Fragment kept). Over there, its a bit different & all finds like this end up in the Museum (& a finders fee paid, I think), which is never a bad thing, if your interested in preserving history & not just selling it or keeping it to yourself.

I would follow the law but a little bit of my heart would go with it. It's very cool that you did have items returned and cool too that you found museum worthy stuff. This site is hazardous to me ever getting anything done but more exploring. I have weird absolutely worthless things that are my favorite finds and i usually don't know what they are. I will post one later, a wooden pick that was in the ground about 100 years, if it's the same age as the bottles i get in that spot, and is stained but perfect. Maybe it's not wood but it sure looks it. Also a blue glass pressed bead... just lovely.

We operate in a similar manner. If every detectorist had these ethics, we wouldn't have a bad name.
That's nothing to do with why detecorists have bad names mate...and you know it..tut tut.:nono:
