Hello...my daughter located this in the jungle in Guam and I was wondering if anyone might be able to tell me what it's from...auto, plane, something else? It's at the bottom of a small trench but could have started as a crater from impact if a plane...no other wreckage was found...some trash though...from the ground to the top is approximately 3.5 to 4 feet...thanks!

Looking at the pictures of the engine, I see a lot of salvageable parts. Depending on what it is it could be worth digging out. ;D OK all you would be pilots.. Whats the stall rate on a Grumman Seabee. what happens if you stall it? Did it have a varablie pitch prop? 8)

Hmmmm....thinking about what was said about digging it out....if you look closely at where it's buried it's not only full of rock....but those bubbles up to the left of it-is the rush of water getting ready to come down the embankment....it started raining as I went to get the pics and by the time I snapped them I was running back up to avoid the water that started pouring in...there's also some tree roots running across the base...it would be one heck of a job....but I'm still considering it...lol

SeaBee was made by WHO????
I know!!!!
I was reading a Grumman Factory workers hand book when I thought that one up. Sorry. That was the second plane I ever flew. Taylorcraft 65 hp, with edo floats was the first. I had just turned 15 at the time...My instructor who was an ex Hump Pilot, used to tell me stall the Seebee and it goes straight down like a rock... I believed him.

That engine is worth the trouble of digging out!! ::)

Just thought I'd give anyone interested an update...could find no records of crash or dump site and could find no other debris within 100 yds...I have now left Guam but before leaving took a local Scout Master to the site, he and his troop might try to get it out of the jungle.

Have you seen Amelia Earhart wondering around?

Nice Job Mr. Jim Montana, who is in the Air Force, has probably been stationed in Guam, flown the damn things, and now in Great Falls doing nothing except riding his motorcycle to the PX to get beer.

Well Fine Then!

Looks like probably a fighter plane crash site to me. I would scout around the whole area for more debris.. There may be more on top ground. Looks like a very interesting site. Please keep us up to date. Be careful for unexploded ammunition or bombs though. :o

Well, I did search the surrounding area but Guam is covered with unexploded ordnance so I only dug the smaller shallow items and only came up with trash. :(
