Can anyone identify this buckle? It has ADAMS on it. Thx.
Looks like a Type V shoe buckle depending on size. . See number 21 on this chart, for example. ADAMS is intriguing.. maybe a more modern reproduction??.

This buckle puzzles me...
It appears old, but the frame is thicker than I would expect. Also- I've never seen a buckle with a name clearly engraved like this... maybe a reproduction?
Could you provide some details about the buckle itself ( size, weight, depth, type of location)?

A terrific find nonetheless.

Thank you. It could be a reproduction. I found it on Long Island next to where a late 18th early 19th century farm house used to be.
Unless I am mistaken, Crusader seems to think it is genuine, as he has seen buckles with makers marks on them. (I have not, but I have only found five or six buckles myself. ) He would certainly know better than I. If that is genuine, then you have a really nice old buckle. Sounds like you found it on a really old homesite too, which certainly supports it being authentic. Congrats!

100% sure its period & not modern. Probably pretty scarce type, might not even be published with that name.
