Call me mint jelly because I'm on the lamb!

On a recent trip to Romeotopia I was observed stealing away a small sum of money and some jewellery right in front of my host Romeo1. I was able escape on foot and hopefully make a clean getaway. I'm not considered dangerous, well maybe a little in the fields.
In any case, it was great to get out on some old ground and have some decent results; my take for the day was a span of years in coins and jewellery; a 1600's French liard, 1740's George ll halfpenny, 1855 provinial token, and 1898 Indian head cent, and the brooch, ruby encrusted of coarse

The only crime committed was the fact that the five days of sideways rain kept me from getting to those goodies faster!
I'll have to watch myself the next time Romeo puts out the welcome mat, it could be my next caper :laughing7:

Excellent loot you have there!

Very nice variety, the liard is something I doubt i'll ever see around my area. Are those rubys actually real?

They have been found here mixed in with early 1800s finds, but of course we have the history that puts them in circulation. The thing is when you dig any 1600s/early 1700s coin off a much later site it has to be something much different than everything else, so it's really just a matter of finding a much older coin.... and that does happen.

PS... And to take it a step further I never thought I'd see a 1300s coin found at a 1700s site, but it happened!

the rubies are probably not real, I would have expected real gold and not gilt brass in the mount if they were

Unless of course, after paying for the rubies, they didn't have enough for the gold :tongue3:

I've alerted the local authorities and there is an APB out for Ironhorse...his only means of escape will be to pay a fine...one apple tart recipe paid to Mrs. Romeo! ;D

Come back anytime...I'll give you a close up view of the river! ;D
