Well,
Just got back from two weeks in NW Louisianna. Had to work quite a bit, but did manage to hit about six banks on my last day. Boy, am I glad I did!
Got silver at two of the banks:
First bank: I asked for halves and she said she had $300. I said I'd take $50. Well the teller was very nice and wanted to open them to make sure they had the right ammount in them. Must of had some shady characters rip them off in the past. So she checked two rolls while I checked three. Of course, one of the rolls I'm checking has silver rims!!!! So, I say, "could I take the rest of them off your hands too?" She says, oh yes! So, I get them all, and I tell her not to worry, if they are short a coin, I won't freak out. She tells me to come back if any are short and she'll make it right. So, I get out to the car and check them. SILVER!!!!
Second bank: They have $400. I get $200 and check them in the car. You guessed it SILVER!!!, so I have to hit the ATM and get some more cash. I buy the rest.
Rest of the banks only had a handful of clad.
Wow, best road trip I've had in a couple of years.
Also scored a very nice near BU 1974D DDO and two 1987Ps
Final haul: 35 40%ers, 1 1964, and the 74D DDO and two 87s. Dropped off all the clad at a BOA in Texas on my way back to Dallas to fly out.
Nice! Picking a box of halves tomorrow at my home bank. Hope the trend continues.
