Rehunted a 1906 house teardown after some rain and some sewer pipe work and finally got a signal at this yard that has had almost nothing to give. Did the people that lived here never go outside? No toys or money, just a few pieces of hardware and a few mason jar lids. I got a good quarter/half dollar signal and started digging and found a cache of keys about 6 inches deep. They just kept coming out until I had a shovel full of them. The final count was 163. Wish they were coins, but fun none the less. Also had a neighbor watching the dig. This was my first cache. The picture of the keys on the paper also shows junk from other hunts today, that junk is not from the sparse teardown.

163 - without counting my collection, I think thats as many as I've had in all my years hunting.

Must of been a locksmiths house, lol.

unless its a RR key or a skeleton key, i throw them over my shoulder into the woods, depends on my mood, sometimes if my pockets empty ill keep them for the scrap bucket.

That's so cool! IMO. Congrats?? I'd have to say thats a first in the detecting world!

I always keep for the scrap bucket. 1. so I don't have to dig 'em again :D 2. so I can investigate what I find later (have found some great and valuable finds that I would've tossed that way) 3. I take home a recycling check of over $100/year normally, and most of that comes from small items that add up, like 500+ pack studs.

That's a great find! I would clean them up and put them in a clear jar. It would be a treasured part of my collection! congratulations! H Digs!

Wow, that's a great hunt IMHO. Several of my favorites sites are from that era. Some don't produce right away. It took me a year to pull out 3 mercs from one site. Another produced a single IH Penny and another produced a pocket watch case, an eighty year old token and a bunch of cosmetic container.

Your site would be on the top of my list if it was in my hunting grounds.

Keep working it. Betcha find something else kewl.

I happen to like finding keys. That would've been a very fun dig for me. Nice job!
