Cabuchon gem stone cats eye

Why would you take a picture from 25 feet away?

Yeah, I do the same nugget shooting, just hang the coil out the window and drive real fast. I figure if it is big enough that Zed will scream.

My jeweler didnt have a uv light.. The bank didnt have a uv light.... The liquor store is my last hope for a uv light before i buy one...

I saw my jeweler today. The first thing he did was measure the size........he told me tigerseye.....he asked me what i think it is.. I told him alexandrite, catseye chrystoberl. He couldnt tell me it wasnt... He said he couldnt do the light test because its not transparent
the stone.... He said i could try to measure the specific gravity. And maybe there is a pawn shop in the nearby city charlottetown that can do that. He didnt test the pendant clasp he said plated. And because it looked like costume he thinks tigerseye. I asked him to see anycats eye if he had and all he showed me was abtigers eye , with the line as a color pattern only. And he showed me many more stones he pulled from jewelry i assume all of them tigers eye or apatite and nowhere near similar. Or with any mobile line. Or chatoyancy. He said he had not heard of catseye christoberyl..... He told me its 200 or more to test it with GIA, i eould have to sip it to newyork with something like 200$ insurance..
He told me he has had 100,000 dollar stones appraised and was even disapointed once with a saphire...
Anyways i am not shure i want to take the risk of mailing this thing to newyork... I cant afford it . but if i had some confirmation first that it was real i would.....
But i am. Also worried wat if it is real and something happens in the mail.. This ring is like my "precious.." i feel like golem...lol,

Even if it is tigerseye i fell that because of the chatoyancy i can ask astronomical prices.

All tiger eye has chatoyancy Joe. That's one of the defining characteristics.

No tiger eye is worth astronomical prices, but you can ask any amount you like.

I'm glad you got it checked out. Now you have the choice of asking other experts until you get an answer you like or you can just be happy that you have a nice stone that you find impressive.

Yup. But i gota to disagree i have seen alot of tigers eye with zero. Zero chatoyancy....

Also i went back to the jeweler today to look at another peice of jewelry i had...... Costume jewelry... It had an authentic ruby in it.... Just trying to prove. That you can find real gems in old costume...
I had him pull the ruby for me. I plan on puting it in my ring.. Its a nice color and has a spec of chatoyancy. It glows for awhile when removed from light . the jeweler said it was real.

Ruby. And another photo of my ring taken today...

Well now i can have it get a specific gravity test if possible. And set it in a better ring with actual prongs.. I did just glue it and was scared to damage it in removal but it came lose rather easy and the glue cleaned off. Better off i get it set in something solid

I just had a thought concerning the chip on the back. It could have occured when it was removed from another peice of jewelry. Before beign placed in the pendant. It was glued it the pendant and came out quite easy aswell.

Did you do a hardness test on it yet? If another piece of quartz scratches it, it's tiger eye quartz. If not, you've got something.

I think if your jeweller said the pendant was plated and costume then I would think it’s a (non)precious stone. IMO.

I have not done a scratch test. I would like to avoid it. Butnow since have acces to the reverse of thebstone i maybtry... I dobt have anouther tigers eye to use though.
The pendant was plated . probably white gold plated. Gold have been a silver or white gold with a plating.. Or it could be some jeweler or scrap dealer removerd the stone from a gold ring because they though it qas tigerseye.... And it eventualy ended up on a pendant.

I was a jeweler beginning in 1974 and have been in the business off and on since. From the photos I believe it’s just a tiger eye cab with no special value over what it goes for in today’s market.
Best of luck!

Can tigers eye blink. Or disapear. Or look like this?

Look at your first link:
Cat's Eye pics
https://www.google.com/search?q=cat...1rTgAhXDdN8KHRZjDlEQ_AUIDigB&biw=1920&bih=937

Count over left to right until you reach the 11th picture. See how much it resembles the original posters stone? Click on the picture and you will see it's a picture of tigereye.
