A couple miles from home are some cabins along old route 66. These were probably used up until the early 80's. They're shacks now. When the owner gave me permission, she told me a man already searched there years ago, but help myself. She was very nice about it. I figured even if it was hunted before, surely there would be a few coins left behind. After two and half hours I found six wheaties: 1930, 1934, 2-1940, 1944, and 1944D. I also score these two Roosevelts: 1960D and 1962D, and about $1.00 in clad. I spent the last 30 min. of the hunt searching for my Gater Digger. Fell out of my pocket and into all the leaves. Good thing I had a metal detector.

Renegade, it is always exciting to come behind someone who already hunted a spot and to find a good score.
Glad you came out smelling like roses (rooseveltsz).

;D Now THAT is funny !! ?;D

I have a Gator also & would be REALLY upset if I "Lost" it somewhere. ( Good thing I have a detector too ) ?;)

You have the right attitude. You will determine whether or not its hunted out or not.

Congrats on the silver and a nice site to detect! HH, Mike

Cool stuff, very historic old route. I drove part of old route 66 about 3 years back and thought about how great the detecting would be at all the old road side stops. Nice!

Them dimes have probably seen a lot of history drive by... ;D
I have always wanted to take a trip down that road, Maybe someday?
Good luck & Happy hunting~
