Detector(s) used
Teknetics Delta 4000
Went back out to the old elementary school again today. Only hunted for about an hour and a half. Didn't even leave the house until 6:30 after the heat died down. Dug some clad, a few pull tabs, and some shredded aluminum, then dug this 10K gold band. Thought for sure it was going to be another pull tab LOL!

This is my 3rd gold ring in two weeks. Dug a 14K on July 31st, a 15K on August 8th, and now a 10K on August 14th. This Delta 4000 is a ring-findin' mofo. I used to get jealous of these beach combers but now I am realizing the stuff is everywhere!

HH to all!

You were my inspiration to hit up this old schoolyard sir. Many thanks to you! I owe my last two rings to you...

This place is only about a mile away from my home. It used to be the segregated school for the black folks back in the day. It's really givin' up the goods!

Sweet Pull tab!!!! I would Hit that area Harder, Finding the Older style Tabs = better chance of an older GOLD!!!! HH and Great Find

I have been to this place about 4-5 times now. I found a 1936 Buffalo Nickel out there so I know there has to be a bunch of old stuff lying in the dirt there. Like I stated in another thread, I think I must be the only person in this county with a metal detector because this is a place that I would assume would have already been pounded out by now.

Most all spots available to the public eye have been pounded...but they never get it all, it's only through patience and good ol fashioned persistence that gets you the goods. I've dug hundreds of silvers and oldies, but never a gold ring. I'm jealous, congrats on #3!

lets see 3 gold ring --even at $100 each scrap value --looks like the delta 4000 8 at $279 has paid for it's self --always check out the 56 , 57, 58 range and 67 range numbers  thats the 10K and 14 k ranges on my machine. :icon_thumright:

see me no lie --delta 4000 is good.

ps with the older "beaver tail" style pull tabs you found there --there should have been silver coins about -- bet the spot has been hit before 8 but it waSs just "high graded " only copper and silver picked in otherwords -- nickles , pulltabs and gold rings are all very close together in "range" until you got a numbers type machine it was next to impossible to sort any pull tabs from nickles and rings --so many detectorist --simply --high graded picking up the silver and copper "high tone" signals .

that is why you found a old IH nickle and lots of tabs and the gold rings --the old timer detectorist were running fast hiotting the easy stuff and skipping the "work" of digging tabs --but skipping gold in the process as well.--- since thenewer better discrimation type detyectors have come out --many folks would think --oh that place is too obvioius , it had too be hunted out long ago --clearly it was hit but they missed or "left" some behind as too much effort.

I think the "NO TRESPASSING" sign might deter most folks from this place, but one of the times I was there a cop rolled up on me. I was thinking "Uh oh!", but he just asked me what I had found. I emptied out my pockets and showed him a bunch of pull tabs and quarters. He was like - "Cool! Quarters are better than nothin'. Have a nice day!", and drove off.

You're on fire Hombre! congrats.

You got some cooler weather headed your way too, it moved through here (central Alabama)
this evening and it was just a tad bit more bearable outside.

This ring weighs 2.4 grams. The scrap value for the three I have found comes to about $200, plus 2 silver Washington Quarters so I'm almost there.

And yes, I am quite pleased with this machine. Thanks for the advice Ivan!

I'm definitely ready for some cooler temps.

WAR EAGLE!

Just kidding I hate those cheating, booger-eating Barners. I hope Cecil Newton gets them the death penalty eventually. We will have our way with them in Athens this year I assure you.

Go Dawgs!

another "good bit of advice" NO TRESSPASSING MEANS JUST THAT

be smart --get the "ok" first * -- getting your machine taken away as "evidence" to be used against you in the "tressspassing" court case -- often the detectors are not returned to to you much the way a burglers "tools" are not returned to him -- to stop you from reusing it in "another crime"- thus loss of your machine .

plus fines and court cost and a "criminal record" at the very least --if you get a real "gung ho" type cop maybe you will even get the full hand cuff and ride downtown treatment.

I spoke w/the school board. The "NO TRESPASSING" signs are only there to keep 100's of Mexicans from showing up on the weekend to play soccer. They are like a plague here with these soccer games. They invade any open field that is remotely flat and public property and turn it into a third-world carnival. I saw them playing soccer in knee-deep grass once.

so long as it not a "issue" -- seems you got the "ok" :icon_thumright:

ps find out whwere the hispanics play their soccer games at --check out the area afterwards * hispanics are well kow for their love of wearing "bling" gold jewelry  :icon_thumright:
