I just bought a used MXT And I'm planning on trying to find a couple of used coils for it. It came with the stock 950 I want to get 6x10 and maybe later a 4.5. How much is a fair price to pay for these. Don't want to get ripped off. I am on SSI ( Cancer)so I have to watch my Penny's. My M/D should be here by Friday. Time to start saving fo coils.

About $125.00 each is a fair price for used.

If the price is to low you have to ask yourself it they were dropped. Buy new and you won't have any troubles. You being new to the MXT, you won't know if it works the way it should.

How old is the MXT if it was only a couple years old I could really use the 950 on my V3i. I have a good 6x10 that's had moderate use for a couple years that works great, it's on my MXT right now. The 6x10 that I have works on my V3i but I can't turn up my RX gain where I normally run.

Buying a used searchcoil is always a risk. Even if the seller offers you a money back guarantee, it's a can of worms because it may run fine on the machine the seller is using it, but may not run fine for you on your machine & the way you use it. It's also possible that seller doesn't know what the searchcoil should do and not do and may think it's okay when in fact it's defective.

That having been said, in my opinion, on the MXT, the 6x10 DD searchcoil is a lot better overall choice than the 950. Much better pinpointing and target separation, and not as noisy in bad ground.

I didn't ask. It was at a price I could afford so I jumped on it before someone else got it. I should get it by monday and plan on calling Whites with the # to find out.
Being on a very limited income sucks to say the least. You sometimes just flat don't have the money to buy new and you have to take a chance on used things. Sure I would like to buy new, But getting my wifes meds every month is more important.
