Buying first set of classifiers - Help!

I've heard they are good fossil, I use Keenes for my gold cube and would recommend getting as deep of a tray as possible. Or even a better idea, get a BGT and don't classify at all. You said you don't want to carry in much, so if you had say a BGT prospector in 1 hand and a shovel and bucket in the other your set. Get a few cans of redbull and have some fun.
What is a BGT? :icon_scratch:

Bazooka gold trap. It's a type of fluid bed sluice. Look em up on YouTube

Your Hog Pan is probably good competition for the BGT and has an advantage in that it does not require running water. You may end up with much more concentrate with Hog Pan but ultimate gold capture will probably be as good or better.
I still recommend 30, 50, 100 mesh screen sizes and 6" diameter is adequate to classify concentrates but will involve a little more time to do than larger diameters. Minus 1/4"(Hog pan grizzly size) plus 30 mesh is easy to pan and smaller sizes are increasingly harder to pan.

I've never seen the Hog Pan before - just watched a video and looks great especially for areas where only panning is legal.

The point of classifiers is to remove any materials that are not gold. If there are half inch nuggets in your area you should classify no smaller than 1/2" before running the dirt.
Processing cons is different and 2-3 sizes are necessary. I like my 1/2" 10 mesh and 50 mesh.
Brands are opinion. They all do the same thing!! Good luck

Fossil4Life,

Everyone is bombing you with everything. Buy what fits your needs. Bottom line its your money and you have first hand knowledge of your area you plan to prospect. Don't go investing lots of money then find out what you bought may or may not work in your area. Join a club in your area and find out what everyone else is using. Most everyone will allow you to try their equipment and then you can make a wise choice on your purchases. Personally I would stay with the classifiers that fit a 5 gallon bucket. Jobe classifiers are not going to be any better than either the ones I provided or the ones ISOG provided links. Yes you can find deeper classifiers but you will find that deeper is not better due to so much material in the deeper classifiers makes much harder to get the dirt and rock to pass through.

The link the ISOG provided looks to be a very good deal. If I had not own two full sets I would buy another, but who knows I may just buy a set to give as a gift... Free Shipping and Free Pans.
