buying a detector

Kellyco will probably be the cheapest, but then again the real value is your local dealer. For a little more up front, you will have a valuable resource to your local area, as well as hands on training, if he's any sort of a good dealer.
To me, the extra 20 or 40 bucks is worth it. Don't even factor in the "extras" that each may or may not offer.... while it may have a little value, it is basically the stuff they can't sell.

i have heard horror stories about kellyco, but i have bought two detectors from them and have had no trouble. i think it helps to know what you want ahead of time, and dont let a salesman talk you out of it. if there was a local detector dealer in my area i would have bought from them though. i really believe that the service you get from a mom and pop store is worth the extra money you might spend. kellyco cant provide that kind of service.

I have friends that refuse to buy from "Big K" because of the bad treatment they got. If you have a dealer that has a store in your area, that is the place to visit. You can play with the machine you are planing to buy and take it home with you instead of taking a chance on UPS dropping your detector. It might not work up to par and you'd never know it unless you had many years of experience.

Next is Mail order with someone that has been in the business for years and advertises in the treasure magazines. Clevenger Detector Sales, 1-800-999-9147 comes to mind. Also NWRS, 1-800-847-5258.

Some people have complained about being ripped off on ebay. Naturally any seller that you don't know or can't see their face, you are trusting them to ship you a detector that is new in the box and usually if something is wrong, your stuck with it.

Don't be afraid to pay a bit more for the great service you'll get from a person with a store.
