Buy it now or Auction?

I have a lot of watches to sell. Over 100 lbs to be exact. So i decided to box some up this last monday the 24th. I only had 3 of the $5 priority mail boxes and each one holds 4 lbs. At 1:30 PM I started three auctions at $20.00 opening bid and $30 buy it now. Sold the 1st box in less than one hour and the 2nd that evening. sold the last one Christmas day. So sold all three in about 28 hours.

I will pack more tonight and relist. Do you think I should go with a higher BIN? I am happy with what I got.

I'd never do a buy it now on such a large lot unless it was for more than the most I would ever expect getting on the best day. To me it sounds like you are not really driven to make the most out of your stuff, and leave some profit for someone else. I prefer to be greedy, I want every last cent I can squeeze out and I hate when something sells that I think could have done better... but that's sometimes the nature of an auction... but isn't for a buy it now! (insert boxer getting slapped in he face by his trainer smiley, here) :)

It is only 4 lbs. I have 100 lbs to move and anticipating on buying a lot more right after the 1st of the year and this is just the battery watches. I have not weighed the older spring wound watches, probably 20 to 25 lbs.

I relisted two last night with a $35 BIN. another is scheduled for tonight and another for friday night. I don't want to saturate the market or none will sell.

In that case, them being very cheap I would sell them by piece count and not pound, if you're not doing that already. How many watches does it take to make 4 pounds? Was that the plan from the start, buy 100 pounds to sell in lots, or did you come across them in another way? Just curious, I definitely don't want a piece of that action, I have 5 watches and that's enough. :)

That was not my plan from the start. In one of my many postings I told about buying 300 lbs of jewelry at a yardsale. I did not even think about getting rid of them at the time. My thoughts were to go through every piece in that 300 lbs and pull out the "good" stuff. I only paid about $200 for everything. I have already sold 200 lbs to one person and now I want to make room for more because after the first of the year I will be buying more from the same person. He will not say how much he has but I have a feeling I will be loading up the back of my car.

I just canceled my store. If you're not listing/selling at least 150 items a month, even the basic $15 a month fee is not worth it and that's the truth. I used to list much more but that has slowed down from lack of time.... You can turn the store off and back on at any time... Remember that you can list 50 free auction style listings a month too..

You might want to check out Webstore. Free store, no listing fees or final fees. You keep all the profits except PayPal's cut.

I have a buisiness account and settle 95% of sales out of eBay, I offer best cash offer , I wait for a message offer, and then I can end the listing early, if the offer is somewere were it needs to be. You just have to make sure your item is priced at top end, but are willing to except offers.

Gotta be careful with that. It's against policy and one deal gone bad and that buyer will probably be able to get your account suspended or terminated. These days I don't do anything to cross the line because the risk is just not worth it to me.

I have no problem with giving a 100% back of any sale, as for setteling outside eBay, I don't think I am breaking rules for offering a cash discount, as long as I am also offering the use of paypall for the full amount.

You're definitely breaking the rules, and completing the deal through through Paypal it's all right there for them to see. If you care about your account it's not a good idea to keep doing that, and remember if all your info. is linked to that account you might have a hard time getting another one. I just don't see it being worth it to cheat the fee.
