Buttstock??

I found this piece last spring and the more I look at it the more I think it's a buttstock. Any ideas of I'd or how old? Thanks in advance- Justin

It definitely is a butt plate...no idea on age but possibly an 18th century brown bess.

Yep, definitely a buttplate, the buttstock would be part of the wooden stock. Most likely from an early fowler, nice!
