Question is to the left of the buttplate. It is pewter plated silver?? With almost a mirrored finish. Also found broken buckle with chaps as well as cuff link with a pink stone center. Very productive hour hunt. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

I cant get over that ornate piece. Its silver plated on the back to so I doubt it was furniture decoration. Could it have been worn like jewelry? Thats all i can think of.

Nice relics, congrats! :occasion14:

Large fancy broche? Or hat decorative pin?

What did military men use butteplates for? I cannot find it's exact use online?

The buttplate covered the butt end of the rifle.
