I’ve been working a house built in 1908, but I’m rather positive a structure existed on the site well before the current house was built. Found this today and I’m trying to decide if it is a button or something else?

Welcome to Tnet from Toronto Buse! :hello:

Based on it's size, construction and fashion style, I'm seeing a c1870 - 1920 two-piece coat button with the loop pulled out of the back.
If you're able to clean up the back some more, you may find a makers mark, this was a common thing to do by the 'older' button makers.

If there is no makers mark, then I'm thinking it more likely dates to the early-20thc.

Possibly a victorian kitchen drawer pull knob. They usually measure 1” - 1 1/2” in diameter. Could still be a button though, just throwing this out there.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1585840944.460141.jpg
