Button or cufflink?

Found yesterday at an 18th century home site. When I dug it I was leaning toward a domed button with the sides bent down but after studying it I'm leaning towards cufflink. It has a tall drilled shank and is slightly oval. Thanks in advance for your opinions!

I believe it is a drilled shank domed button. Congrats on the nice find either way DND.

Perhaps Crusader will be along shortly, and weigh in.
