✅ SOLVED Button or buckle

This is an object that's slightly bigger than a half dollar. The back appears to have dates on them. Looks like Mar top and aug bottom. Years 80 something? Thought it was a dog collar buckle? If it is, why the dates? Face looks like small sparkles or glitter to make a bone or " I " found in state game lands.

The patent dates visible on back, Mar. 14, 1882 and Aug 12, 1884 indicate it was made by Pflueger / Enterprise Manufacturing
