Button ID Help

Your US Marines button's backmark saying "Waterbury Button Co / Conn" was used from the very-early 1900s until 1944, according to the McGuinn-&-Bazelon book on dating buttons by their backmark. Note in particular that although most of the backmark cannot be read, the visible letters CONN have no serifs. (For anybody here who doesn't know what serifs on letters are, see the graphic below.)

More specifically, in combination with that backmark your US Marines button's "black finish" (for camouflage) dates it to being from 1910 to 1923.
