Return to button hill. Found a nice stirrup, thimble a couple buckles and 23 buttons. 3 buttons aren't pictured...I found them on the way out after the pictures. A lot of walking...hot spots are drying up, but they are still in there just gotta work harder! This brings my button total to 284! My cousin has found 236 which brings a site total up to 520. We've been hitting this property since the first of September. Amazing!!! Thanks for looking. HH

I was not first to hunt that place, but did have one more which I did find that also gave up in the range of 150 large coppers. On day 1 three of us dug 72 including a rare local token my buddy found. On day 2 we dug more, and I got a rare Rev War officer button. That was back in 2000 and I'll certainly never forget it. I call the field The Copper Mine. :)

Thats just insane. We've had some good sites but I seriously doubt I have ever found even 8 or 10 on our best site in the 1st and best days. Sure you'll never forget something that special.

I only wish i had been on this site back then - for my most productive years. That 28 copper day, and then the good button the next, would have been a fun back to back posting! That said, I'm sure there is still another field out there loaded with old coins so we will keep looking. At 43 years old I'm already one of the oldtimers with the stories. :laughing7:

Let's consider ourselves super lucky to have had such sites. Only 3 years in detecting and I can easily say this has been our best site and the most fun. One of the best parts about the property is it's size. It's small enough to not feel overwhelmed. With only 30 acres total. The buttons and coins are a bonus... ;)

This pic is from the best hunt I was ever on!(Aug. 2005) :) Just on that one hunt there was my cannon ball, 2 Rev War buttons, a cob, two 2 REale Pistareens, and everything else you see.

So yes, enjoy the epic ones while you have them, but you know what.... the memories do last for ever.

And, Folks, that is how Patch became a creepy-caped guy. He took the avatar pic circa 2000 after one of his digs. <laughing>

That is a killer site, Matthew. I bet it was a tavern. Any pottery shards? Shoe or knee buckles?

Those are all great finds, but you didn't mention the budwieser can!

That was my friends meds. :) Can you see the crutch? He had a broken leg going on or something like that... can't really remember... was too busy digging. :laughing7:

Yes, quite a bit of pottery shards in the holes I dig and a bunch of red ware.

Really a crazy site for sure!! It really makes you wonder cuz I have a cellar hole spot that I go to where I have found about 120 buttons. Maybe some places had lots of children who lost buttons...Who knows!

Great job on the Button's and the other finds, impressive.

Great finds! Glad to see another WV on here.

That is an incredible number of buttons. To put things in perspective, our tavern site here has given up a total of close to 300 buttons over the course of 2 years.

Have any of those buttons been military?

Yes. We have dug 3 Wayne's legion buttons, war of 1812 navy button, royal artillery button, 2 light artillery buttons, 1st regiment artillery button, civil war Virginia button.
