Can anyone tell me about this button? I can't remember seeing this backmark before. And, does it look legitimate? There is wear on the front and it looks like "REST" under the cannon but if you look close it does read "REGT".

Thanks for your reply. I have found a similar button front in my reference books books but can't find that backmark. I haven't done a lot of internet searching yet because it is easier to post it here and let the experts tell me about it.:laughing7:

There were a ton of backmarks. Not an issue at all. War of 1812 period artillery button, maybe just after the war as the backmark may indicate European manufacture. And that is the abbreviation for "Regiment". Cool Button.

The last picture shows the gold color. When I edited the first two they came out silver for some reason.
