It is a brass 1-piece "flatbutton," made for use on civilian clothing, although a few did get used on Militia uniforms.
From when: indented lettering in a brass flatbutton's backmark means approximately 1810 though about 1840.
From who: Made in London England and imported into the US prior to the 1830s (at which time the young American button-making industry finally became capable of supplying the demand for buttons by the clothing industry). If by "from who" you meant who wore it, almost certainly a civlian.

Between my dad and I , we have found about 11 buttons some curved and different sizes all in about a 50 yard X 20 yard area. Thus is the first one with a maker mark. Why do you suppose all these buttons are here and if its not military why so many together

The spot you are hunting is either a long-vanished early-1800s house site, or a farmer's field from that era. The women do the household laundry and hang it out to dry, where the clothing tends to lose buttons. Also, farm fields tend to have a significant number of buttons, due to the hard manual labor of farm work.

House-sites are always trash-ridden, so if you're not finding a fair amount of old household junk parts, and especially nails, its probably an early-1800s farm field.
