(UPDATE TOWARD BOTTOM OF PAGE)
So this follows the post about our Sunday Hunt that produced silver, a large cent and much more. I had mentioned Goingdown found this cool item -- he told me to go ahead and post. He found a buried wallet with roots all through it and when he opened the wallet to find out what was metal he found this...(see photo). Turns out I know the owner of the wallet but I didn't know him back then, so I had no idea it was lost in 2001. Needless to say it will be returned to him, not a single dollar was in it -- yes that's our story and sticking to it, but it's true...cool find of the day.

(To answer person below -- You can't tell his full name...it's only partial and signature is not readable...I thought about that.)

Sorry if I made anyone mad but this does get under my skin this isn't the first time I have seen this happen on Tnet people will post dog tags without blocking anything out an or info about a dog tag an list all that persons personal info an other kinds of personal stuff on the forum. I understand that they are just tryin to help, but please use the Pm feature when dealing with personal info or block out the sensitive info...

Ok Creeper - QUOTE TEH LAW.
Share it with us.

If I find Dog Tags....Show me where I cannot post a pic (MY personal moral/ethical boundaries would have me block out the SSN#).
The OP's pic - Post where that pic violates the law.

I believe you are interpreting Privacy Laws and manipulating them to fit your perception of right vs. wrong.

I don't know the exact law I'm not a lawyer.. never intend to make it sound like I was manipulating law to my benifit

Creeper -- I googled using all the info and can't find this person and I know his full name. He is not a member of the NY police department, nor can he be identified based on the info on the badge...again, you can't determine this person's name using the info on the badge. It can't be found. Enough said.

do some of you people know what privacy laws are?? you need to start to block out the peoples names a photos...

Sounds like you hit a nerve with creeper. He could have approached the subject a little more civil instead of coming off like a @#$&.
Good find and it's neat that you know the guy.

I was thinking the same thing!! Nice find and its good you know the person so it can be returned!!

Thats a great find and I am sure the return will be appreciated by the individual and PD.

Ok kool... I'm sorry then.... It really bothers me when I see post with personal info on them.. there are alot of people online that prey on other people an there mistakes...I don't think you need to be a member to just read the post so I was afraid someone could get the info an there could be an id theft... sorry again... I honestly didn't mean it to be rude or to make you mad.. but that was a weird find.. kinda weird how it turns out you happen to know the guy...

Interseting find. Some crook could have got hold of that badge and a uniform and done some wrong doing ::) WTG. I recently found a wallet while hunting and returned it to the owner money and everthing in it. His father tried to reward me and I told him I didn't want anything.

oh man! Can we have a pic of his face when you hand it back to him? lol Very definitely an interesting find and I am sure it will surprise him to get it back after all this time.

That is neat. I found a fire chief badge this year and whenI return it they say thaqt he lost it last year in Nov. But it didn't have a wallet with it. Lets us know what he says when you return it....Matt

This is a Reserve Badge. He may not be a full fledged Cop. The ones we have in our county are kinda (let me be nice here)...uh...security guard types..Cool find though and I am sure either way he reported the loss and there is a case on file for it. Nice that you know the guy and can return it. jgas

jgas, I was gonna say about the same thing. It's like one of those "fraternal order of 5-O" stickers the idiots buy for their licence plates, like it's gonna save them a ticket.................. :icon_sunny:

Usually they get a ticket for obstruction of the plate. But, hey, who am I to say it might not work once?

Great find,I am sure he would Love to see that come back to him, if possible.

Creeper,I think it is Cool to try and protect others privacy. We may not always accept certain word useage or think the same. but knowing you was only trying to do the right thing, is what is important.

Agreed.
Well said.

Great find Bergie!

While I agree with Creeper that we should be careful about posting private data, all I see is the guy's name, a bad photo and the fact that he used to be an NY cop. I can gather that much on people by opening a newspaper. If it showed his SSN and DOB, that would be different.

The way they(the city of New york) treated Ricardo last year for his detecting ticket(to much info )I would sell it on Ebay

one of my points I was tryin to say was what if this guy was a undercover agent an someone by chance seen this on here an figured out he was the one that narked his friend or relative out... other then the name an ssn#.. I was only tryin to look out for both people the poster an the person who lost the item...

anyone that know how to use a computer can get the full name with the information you have showing... like I said be4 everything should be block out... there are people in this world that prey on people an you are givingthem a tool by posting this the way you did...
try your name on this search then come back and see what you think
