someone either saw her or got lucky
Looks like a Camp at best. her Mailing address is the same though. she may have died or moved & never changed it
Sorry, just a typo. I meant half dollar -- weight is correct, post has been updated.50 Cent Pieces not Dollars & My guess it's the reason someone caught her Feeding it. she must have had a Path Worn![]()
No so. Math that again. Why such a big drum for ~30 pounds? and a fairly small volume?A Half dollar weighs 12.5 grams, so 18000 of them would weigh 225 kg (a hair under 500 lbs). It would have been quite a bit of work to bury that, or to dig it up. I'm not surprised the thieves didn't try to pull the whole barrel out of the hole.
Would be a great place to go swing a detector. They're bound to have dropped a few.
OK.No so. Math that again.
The volume. Less than cubic foot?OK.
18,000 half dollars at 12.5 grams each.
18000 * 12.5 = 225000
225000 grams / 1000 grams per kg = 225 kg
225 kg * 2.2 lbs per kg = 495 lb
What did I miss?
If they were stacked perfectly into a square container, you'd get about 13,000 half dollars into a cubic foot, so 18,000 of them would take about one and a half cubic feet. I'm assuming they were just dumped randomly into the drum, not stacked at all, so they would take up considerably more room, but still not anywhere near the whole 55 gallon drum. With a container that big, either it was already conveniently buried and she repurposed it, or she intended to put a whole lot more in there. The volume. Less than cubic foot?
