Found this shell at old site. There is no writing on the back and seems old. Thanks for your help in advance.

Looks like a Spencer rim fire cartridge nice find

thanks Relic nut, the man who lived in the house had quite a history. He was in Massachusetts sharpshooters during the civil war and fought in numerous battles. He was captured and died at Andersonville. Any idea of the age of shell?

Spencer cartridges were patened in 1860 and available until 1920s. Very cool story to go with the find. Congrats

I agree with relic nut, it's a Spencer Casing, nice find.
