I found this today in the woods near a lake. I pulled an old musket ball out of here a while ago but have also found tons of fishing weights as well. I'm not sure what this is or how old it is. If anyone has any info, I would greatly appreciate it. Its definitely made out of lead. blt3.JPGblt2.JPGblt.JPG

Thanks,
Frank

P.S. Not sure why the pics uploaded upside-down. My apologies but I can't seem to fix it.

I believe it is a modern muzzleloader round.

It bears a close resemblance to a civil war .58-caliber Williams Patent Type One "Bore-cleaner" bullet. If that's what it is, its rounded nose has been flattened. But then again, it might not be a bullet at all. Please use an old toothbrush to VERY GENTLY remove the dirt from the bullet, under running water. Then make several well-focused closeup photos, especially one or two showing the end of the bullet which has what appears to be a short projecting plug. (Like in the photo below, which shows the base of a .58 Williams Patent "Bore-cleaner" Type One bullet. Also, please do your best to measure the bullet's diameter, as closely as possible. It should be about .57-inch in diameter.
