Hi all. Found on a farm along the Valley Pike in the Shenandoah - which means Civil War Central. A Williams cleaner, 3 minies, and a musket ball have been dug there recently. I found this one yesterday. It's smaller than the 3-ringers, and has a flat, not conical, base. Any ideas?
It is definitely a civil war fired US .52 Spencer Repeating Rifle bullet.
To some bullet collectors and diggers, your fired bullet is a "special" one because although it is fired it has no impact-damage AND it shows the distinctive 6-groove right-twist rifling-marks of the Spencer Rifle which fired it.
