I thank you in advance for any help you may give me on this one. I am not a relic/bullet guy. I was hunting a park that has old old history today. I have found an 1845 large cent and numerous other old coins and rings there.

I was hunting near the front today and got a 1950s wheat. I also noticed lots of porcelain and old glass. My next hit was this bullet.

I've never seen anything like it around my area. It is heavy. It is an inch long and just over a half inch in diameter. Any ideas as to age, etc. I can't get the weight right now, but can later on.

Your bullet appears to be a civil war era yankee .56-caliber Colt Revolving Rifle bullet. For certainty, I'd need to a photo showing it with all the dirt washed out of its body-grooves. For additional confirmation, please post the precise weight when you can get it ...and also, precise diameter and length. The specifications for a Colt Revolving Rifle bullet are:
Length - .96-inch (which matches your "approximate" measurement)
Diameter - .568 to .570
Weight - 475 to 484 grains (30.78 to 31.36 grams)
