I found this bullet in a Yankee camp near Jackson, MS. Does anybody know what type this is? It has a solid base and is smaller than a .58 (maybe .54 or .52 caliber). Thanks for any assistance. bullet.JPGbullet base.JPG

I'm happy to be helpful to my fellow relic-diggers and collectors. It is my way of paying back for the relic-ID help I was given way back when I was new to the relic-hunting hobby. Since you said you "always check to see" the relic-info in my posts, let me take this opportunity to remind folks that all my past posts are viewable by clicking on my posting-name and then selecting "View Posts." I've poured my 40+ years of relic-knowledge into those 5,000 posts, carefully keeping them educational... no "Nice find!" posts.

.... and I have done just that! About 8 or 9 months ago I was sick and confined to the bed for a couple days and bored out of my mind. I went to this site and pulled up “The Cannonball Guy’s” postings and read up on most of the artillery writings you made over the years. Man it was great and made my convalescing much easier!!! I remember thinking that these posts ought to be collected, categorized and published!!! I know I’d pay good money for it!! It is just a wealth of knowledge spread out over multiple pages and I’m so glad you so freely help and offer your knowledge! Another funny thing I noticed was the few questions I had asked, and came across while scanning your posts, seem so stupid. But, as always, your explanations were so kind and understanding as well as educational (even when I apparently asked the same question 4 or 5 different ways!)

..... anyway, you are an incredible asset, not only to this site, but also to History. To be honest, the value you bring is really priceless!!!! Thanks!!
