Not an expert, but somewhat knowledgible. They look like .45-70s but can't tell for sure without some measurements. Monty

I'm with Monty, Looks like 45-70. Probably in a fire the way casings are split.Can't tell without measurerments. Tony

Well, they'd work in an 1873 Springfield if in good condition but no way to tell for what firearm. I have a custom made .45-70 bolt action made from a SMLE, barrel made in 1998, but action made in 1942. so they could be for any rifle of .45-70. It would depend on the circumstances of the find to try to determine what firearm they were intended for. Monty
