I found this today and thought it was junk until I cleaned it off and realized it was a buffalo nickel. It looks as if someone had spot welded or sodered a safety pin of some sort and had a eyelet on the top. The nickel is bent and shaped like a contact lens. It almost looks as if it was a make shift spoon. Any suggestions?

Switching to another thought completely...

Have you ever seen another coin, or copy of this coin, used on SO many different item? It's used to make all kinda of jewelry, pendants, clothing decorations, buttons and much more... including paraphanalia! The buff nick is freaking everyplace! I think it's cool they brought it back (kinda) as a nickle.

Thanks all. I will label this as paraphernalia and a piece of American history.

Lots of jewelry items were made with old Indian Head pennies and worn out date Buffalos. You can still run across them occasionally at yard sales. Alot of those pieces of jewelry has conical shaped coins. I think it was part of the jewelry process to learn how to hammer and shape the coins as in working with metal. Could have been a clip or possible a real rusted portion of a necklace chain. The nickle portion of your find is worth keeping a any rate.
