✅ SOLVED Buckle??? with Patent date

I found this today and am not sure what it is. It is some type of metal and looks like sort of like some type of buckle. It says Carlsbad on front and "PAT May 2, 1900" on the back. I didn't find much when I tried to google it. I even tried to find the patent but didnt find anything definitive. That is a penny for size reference. Thanks for your help.

Design wise it is pretty close. I couldn't find anything on yours doing a quick search.

There are members on here like BiggyC and Creksol who can look up really amazing info on patent dates. It looks like a suspenders clip. But others should be able too look up that patent info for yah!
