I'm guessing that this is an early 1700's shoe buckle, but I need some clarification, it was found at a colonial site. It around 2.25" width, and around 1.75" height, these measurements are not exact, but close enough. What I really want is to know how old it is, and what it is for

Also, that main rod going up the buckle is very crudely made, with evendence of the it being forged, then attached on to the buckle crudely.

It's a Annular Harness Buckle, 19th to mid 20th Century. :thumbsup:

Thanks you, I think you nailed it, I looked up "Annular Harness Buckle" after seeing your post, and all the buckles looked just like mine
