SO I came across about a 12 pound crayon basket of collector spoons this weekend. Tossed them in the back seat and had not had the chance to lay them out till tonight. Bought the whole plastic basket shown for $15 at the yard sale. The quick glance and paid asking and got on the move quickly. I saw at least a few silvers and that was good enough for me. I haven't counted them all yet but way over 100 spoons from everywhere you can think of. I have found 8 sterling so far. But it gets better! Hidden in the bottom of the basket? Was a very unique old cork screw made from a piece of horn! But wait, it gets better!IMG_0183.JPG I came across A set of Bars and a set of military uniform buttons. Not sure which era but super cool! Maybe someone here knows? But wait, it gets better!IMG_0174.JPGIMG_0180.JPGIMG_0181.JPG What else could be better? How about 2 franklins and a very nice 2 center? Still not the best it coming. IMG_0175.JPGIMG_0176.JPGIMG_0177.JPGIMG_0178.JPGIMG_0179.JPG How about a white gold elgin watch? Gooooold I love Gooooooold!IMG_0184.JPGIMG_0185.JPGIMG_0186.JPG
Ok I have ventilated some. I wonder what the 1911 one dollars coin is? anyone know? I have never seen one.

Any idea of what it should weigh?

no, but that should be an easy google search....in any case the fakes won't have ANY silver content and that is also easy to check.

:notworthy: :occasion14:
Way cool purchase. Congrats!

26.95 g 33mm diameter.

Numista says:
British trade dollar LINK .

Awesome score. Congrats.
Not only is this fake but it is a very bad one. It is over a gram light in weight and when I put it under the glass it has very porous surfaces. Has great eye appeal though :) Anyone want to buy a trade dollar? :) IMG_0205.JPG

Heckuva buy! I'm envious.

but hey, $15 Treasure Basket with cast silver

what was that 'rock' in your photo ?
Its not even silver! I have been scratching my head about is that a meteorite and whats that rock? I was puzzled and went back through the Photos. That is a severely smashed .45 full metal jacket bullet. This guy kept it so I don't know if he was hit with this round or what? If he was he felt it the rest of his life.

check out ebay...you can get fake high value coins for near anything...want a 1804 dollar?...

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=1804+dollar&_sacat=0&_sop=15

most Chinese fakes are listed as such and ship from China, very cheap, but have no "copy" or other inscription stamped into them.
I like this one. Set up to look like a PCGS OR other Slabbed coin $99 dollars and it is silver plated (oh excuse me "Layered") Geez

for that price they could have struck sterling with the right size and weight!

I spent $15 on gas and bug spray for my hunt last weekend. Didn't find much, and got bitten alive anyways!
