Easter 2020 was a day with some pretty good eggs lying around . Dug my first seated half dollar an 1876 , cool Sterling silver pin , local pharmacy bottle and some other odds and ends . Definitely my best find so far this year 20200412_152517.jpg20200412_152528.jpg20200412_153329.jpgIMG_20200412_181140_904.jpgIMG_20200412_181140_903.jpg20200412_153753.jpg

Well done, congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Fantastic find! Maybe a once in a lifetime kind of find for most of us. Keep up the good work!

Is it just me, or doesn't that coin look like a counterfeit?

Congrats for some great finds and for knocking one off the bucket list!

Congratulations. Looks like a virgin sit. Nice finds.:icon_thumright:

Some very nice finds there. I'm wondering if Crusader might be right about the seated half being a counterfeit....it doesn't look right. Could you post some close-up pics?
Whether its counterfeit or not, you still did a great job with your personal Easter egg hunt! Congrats!

I think it was in a fire . The place i dug it at was demolished and burned in the 1920s to put a new road in . It rang up like a silver half on my Etrac

I can try to get some closer pictures

That is the first thing I thought
I thought it looked strange, but the house i dug it at was burned in the 1920s and it rang up right on my Etrac.

Some closer pictures. I enhanced the color on the obverse to bring out details 20200413_091209.jpg20200413_091251.jpg

To me thats not fire damage. Look at how the edges are crumbling. I believe its a contemporary counterfeit & in many ways much rarer than the real deal.
I definitely trust your judgement. Wonder why it rang up the same as a real coin ?

I don't trust VDI for starters, but it may still have some Silver just not the right amount. It has a kind of pewter/tin look to it.
