Just curious for some input.

Since we obviously all use the internet... what is your browser of choice?

For years.. I stuck with the old IE... and sadly.. for some sites, I still have to use it for support. I like the fact that they took on the Tabbed feature of other browsers.. but i have to say.. something about it I still don't like.

For several years now.. I've used FireFox. It's got the tabbed features.. .and I love the Favorites Button bar. The thing I love most about it though is all the 'add-ons' you can get for it. Up to this point, I've added a weather program, I-tunes controller program, a You Tube video FLV downloader program.. and more. Firefox seems to be the best one.

Just recently, due to some high recommendations, I started using Safari for Windows. I'm still playing with it. So far, I enjoy it.... it's similar to FireFox in many ways.. except for the add ons. I haven't found any way to add the same add-ons that I did in Firefox.

Now... I will NEVER EVER use Netscape. I used it back when it first came out.. I hated it. I just recently saw a more recent version of it.. and STILL hate it.

And as for AOL... crap crap and double crap.. HATE IT.... It does nothing but error all the time.

Any opinions for yourself?

I'm a big fan of Firefox. One of the main reasons is for two of the "add-ons". AdBlock and FlashBlock.

AdBlock removes advertisement images on websites and can also be used to remove any image for that matter.
For instance,if someone's avatar bothers you, right-click and select Remove Image, and it vanishes. The website automatically adjusts for the "hole" you created.

Ever had pulsing, bright ads be a distraction on a website? This is Flash animation and this is what FlashBlock stops. It replaces the whole ad panel with white and a small "F" in the middle. If you want to watch the Flash, click on the "F". If you regularly want to watch Flash from this site, right-click and select Allow Flash From This Site.
Flash is used for much more than just ads, so many times you do want to view Flash animation, this lets you decide which.

Because blocking ads is not corporate-friendly, don't expect to see these features from Microsoft IE anytime soon.

Well... I started browsing in 1993. I used Mosaic. :-)

What a wonderful invention it was!

Being on a Mac, I thought I would be left out in the cold as Microsoft decided to flood the market with it's not-so-open (free - eh - cough) browser.... IE..... what a clunker.

Low and behold, Apple is STILL a player, and Safari on the Mac is hands down, THE BEST browser out there.

I still test things on everything I can get my hands on, but I use Safari, on an Apple, exclusively. :)

It's good to know that creative thinkers resist monopolies!

Eh... Marc's right of course. But I've never let that stop me yet... ::)

I like Camino MUCH better than Safari. It's lean, clean, lightning fast, and "Mac" to the max.

Then again, I'm so low-tech that I have to mail my flashlight back to the factory to get the batteries changed.

Of course, there's always IE 5.2.3 for Mac... or, much better, clay tablets!

I use something I got from the Russians, A pencil and paper. My wife is low tech she employs a crayon. :tongue3:

Right now explorer is doing Tnet, Safari is doing eBay, and crap aol is googling ;D
and I'm a happy camper :)

But, imo; safari's the best

Firefox all the way baby!

I tell ya, being kind of a geek myself (and I'm not an Apple Guy), I have to go with Firefox for many reasons:

>Lightweight, not invasive and clunky.

>I have used Firefox since inception, and have yet to get ONE virus.

>LOTS of customization options

>Gives you ways to defeat all kinds of protection with FREE add-ons

>Open Source and free to the public (as most all software should be)

Best-Mike

Been online since 1996 and used IE for years. Now I use Firefox and love it!

Gotta put my vote in for Fire Fox...for those that like to try things, check out the "noscript" addon. Just remember, if for some reason your page won't load correctly, make sure it is on your allow list.

Mozilla, the makers of Firefox are the people that used to make Netscape....ironic, eh?

I was not aware of that... that truly IS ironic... Thank goodness they rethought the look and feel of their browser...

Isn't NetScape part of AOL now a days, or vice a versa?
