The "S" probably was used to denote silver. The other hallmark is unrecognizable to me. Probably is English-made.The brooch is probably circa 30's-40's.
 

Any way you can get a clear view of the hallmarks?

One suggestion. Turn the flash off, from your camera and set up some kind of side light. Like a desk lamp. That should be enough illumination to highlight the hallmarks but not confuse your camera on where to focus.

Assuming it's an automatic focus camera that is. LOL
 

The S indicates silver of 830 or higher
The hallmark looks like a swedish triple crown , but cant quite make it out from the picture....

That crossed my mind, as well. It's hard to tell from the pic, but knowing my horrible track record of identifying things, I'd go with gypsyheart on this one. ;)
