This time of year the options are greater than the window of time you have available, so it's important to make every hour count.
Today we returned to Brooch Field with the objective of covering the rest of the site today. We gridded for 6 hours & finished 85% of the scatter. The 15 % can wait for another year, as we have done the main area, & need to move on.
Brooch Field lived up to its name again...

34 Roman Bronze Coins (4 OK, & 1 of those was a Julian II, spearing fallen horsemen, which we are pretty sure is one we need):icon_thumright:
5 Roman Brooch bits - 1 broken plate brooch type I need.
2 Iron Age (Celtic) Brooches - 1 nice La Tene III (circa 100BC-80AD)
Bent over Roman Strap-end
2 Roman Pin-heads
Roman Hob-nail

No silver. (& no buttons!)

We are at the clear a lot of nails stage.

Very nice fibula! Tiny but beautiful. It's a shame it's broken. You don't see many La Tene III of this type coming up! Do you had one of these before?

I see you made every hour count today at the Brooch Field. Congratulations on the really nice finds:icon_thumleft:

Crusader,

Another great hunt. I always look forward to seeing a new post from you as I know it will be interesting even if you have an off day. Good luck with your hunts. Walt

Confused, the one I'm talking about on the Left is the 'big' one:
''La Tene III/Nauheim derivative type''
We have maybe had a couple of lesser examples.
But I think the bent one on the right you are talking about we have had plenty of.

Cru,
What part of England do you detect? The age of the things you find is mind boggling, I can’t even imagine, nice job

Sorry, missed that complete. :BangHead: I thought top row second from right was a La Tene with the tits left and right above the spring. I should wear glasses, or at least look closer. Now i see the wide bow of the roman brooches.
