What country are we talking about here where the wreckage is?
I think he is digging several different WWII crash sites in northern Italy.

Salerno, south Italy.

Sorry Matteo, I dont know north from south. My Dad was awarded the Bronze Star for his actions in Anzio 1944. He used to speak of Monte Cassino. He left me some tiny pics. You are welcome to use them on your site. http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,376805.0.html

Does "N. Car. Caserta 1944" mean anything?

I found a picture in my Dads WWII stuff that says on the back:

James David
N. Car.
Caserta
1944

The 2nd item may also be a "belt o matic" watch fob. The part you found would attach to your belt and a chain would go to the watch in your pocket. I have found 2 that are very similar.
Thanks for posting,
Bunker

Someone can send me e-mail addresses of USA newspapers and USA historical magazine that can be interested to publish this new? I hope in this way to find some or relatives of deceased soldiers.
