It’s amazing what kind of detail is beneath all that crust.
I am very conservative when cleaning my finds. I just about mechanically clean 90% of all my finds. Using a stereo microscope and toothpick. No water or even distilled water because it’s pretty aggressive on the patina. ( just from experience)
After that I dab some renaissance wax to preserve it.
