It does look like his style, but lacking a stamp with a capital 'B' that is placed in a twin handled vase, I would say no.

Do you see any stamps on the piece?

No stamp, what value would you say for Austrian 1920s

No idea on value..I'll leave that up to one of the experts.

Thanks for your input mr, keep it to yourself

Can you tell us more about the critter? A pic with something for size reference would be helpful, or dimensions. Is it heavy? Do you know anything about it's history, as in where it may have been made?

On it's paws..is that fabric or was it attached to something?
So far, it does appear to be, at least, a very good copy of a Bergman. No stamp anywhere...really? Damn..:icon_scratch:

Kev..fyi, we're an easy going bunch around here; no need to be testy. In all honesty there is quite a resemblance to the metal Mack Bulldog proudly mounted on the hood of every Mack truck...

Usually carries a price of around $4.00 at Goodwill.

Few questions:
What makes you think it's from Austria, and from the 1920s?
Might be the lighting but the photo of the bottom of the feet is looking yellow instead of a brownish colour.

Welcome to Tnet.

The problem here is that you have neither provenance nor provenience. Maybe you have a good reason for believing it to be Austrian and circa 1920 (family lore or whatever) but, for a buyer, there's nothing particular to distinguish it from a piece made in Birmingham in the last 20-30 years or so. Without a maker mark or signature (which is unusual on quality pieces) it's value rests solely on its decorative appeal and particularly for dog lovers/bulldog owners.

I've seen a lot of similar pieces (sometimes described as 'Bergman-style') with some sellers on the net hoping to get a couple of hundred dollars for them. However, at auction, realistically I think it would probably struggle to reach $30.

I agree with what is being said about it, I have seen a set of five bulldogs by Bergman, mine looks exact the same to the smaller one, nose to tail is 6cm, 4cm tall, at the shoulders 3cm width, I have no scales, but for the size of it he is heavy, the feet was brown, they have been scraped, he has got orange/ brown eyes, black pupil, it is not easy to get a good picture, the dump truck reference? I get it now I’ve seen it,

This one I did find in the dump, 9cm long, very heavy, it has been battered, bless him, there is traces of being painted, any ideas on this one please,

You have the same problem with that second one. No artist mark and no foundry or maker mark. No provenance or provenience.... and a lower value still, given it's in poor condition.

He’s called bob if that helps? Lol, I’m just seeing if anyone has seen this one on there travelling, I have looked all the net for about a week, can not find that collar on any, no stamp or marks, but I think to good to be rubbish

You posted, “He’s called Bob if that helps.” It looks like you can joke around, but nobody else had better. I’ll avoid your posts. I don’t like the style. We have fun and accomplish a lot for each other. Evidently you’ve not been a member of a supportive team before. I feel sorry for you. Good bye.
