Found this in a former farm field. It looks like maybe part of a two piece rosette? Any thoughts would be much obliged.

Antique door knob encasing that connects to one door side? there are not holes in the center of bridle rosettes from images I looked up. Here is the back side of a bridle rosette. View attachment 2029712

I agree, hardware escutcheon plate.
But, I also found a similar looking rosette in 2019 as well.
