Brevete San Garantie Du Governement" means "Patent without the Government guarantee".

Thats what the BGDG means and I believe what you may have is a system to clean clocks, or polish them. At least the dating on the term for the patent would suggest that this would have been used for that. Not 100% here but it appears as though the translation to French says it is for cleaning, some sites refer to clocks back in the mid 1800's. The search continues though......jgas

I'm guessing a bug sprayer
I see the knob where you would introduce the chemicals.
OR - enema's ?

Hi , I went back to the local Thrift Store today and bought the other one , I didn't bother getting it yesterday because it was missing the fill-cap . It's identical to the first one except it's painted black .
I figured I'd take it apart - so I did .

There is a greenish waxy substance around the plunger thing , not sure what it is . :dontknow:
I sniffed it - no insecticide smell , not much smell at all .

Oh well .........now I have 2 .

By the looks of the tip
it looks like it might have 2 chambers, 1 for chemical and one for the air pump
still looks like a bug sprayer

Just way too many crazy things come to mind when I saw this posting....then saw the picture. But....this is a family friendly site.

My guess is that it might also be part of a polishing machine, it distributes that green wax into or to somewhere. It has the same internal workings as a grease gun.

It may be part of an old plant sprayer (mister), similar to the one shown below, with "Quick Polish" referring to making the leaves shiny.

I wonder why then is there a cap where the atomizer would mount. I would also guess that the cap is a cover for the fill port.

It also looks like it has a foot that it sits on, and don't think much pressure can be applied with a handle like that.

The thick leather washer is a no brainier - its called a leather packing, its purpose is to crate vacuum and then return pressure to push he air, mixing the air and liquid that is loaded into the chamber
Still going with the bug killer thought
or should you choose - an enema device
