How long & how wide is it? Do you think it was crushed from the original shape it once was?

I agree with vhs07.... A dime store knife handle. The impressions at the ends of makeshift bolsters are dead giveaway. Early cheap ones were fastened by adhesive, no pins....imo

All pocket knives have pins. A minimum of three, one for the blade to swivel on, one for the back of the backspring, and one for the end of the spring, or they wouldn't work. There are early ones (pre 1800s) and Asian ones without a backspring but they still have pivot pins. Bgmeanie is incorrect in this instance. Dimensions are wrong for a knife too. BOTB and DC are more likely correct. If you truly think it is a knife please post it on Blade Forums or All About Pocketknives and ask the experts there. I believe they will also disagree with Bgmeanie.

Let's just say it's part of some sort of a handle I don't think it's a knife either. Maybe it is just a brass pickle
