I don't know what it originally was, but it looks like someone fixed a 'mammy made' suspender holder/buckle out of it with the 2 holes at the end going over the over-all rivets/button and the metal loop at the other end to hold the material. Interesting find, Breezie

Looks like one half/side of a victorian perfume/change purse.Sorta like this one made of silver though.

Pete, I think a Victorian Mess Purse (part of it) is a good assessment. I'm still wondering if Pa Pa used Ma Ma broken purse to make an overall suspender. :icon_scratch: Breezie

Given where it was found and some other information I've learned in this forum (thank you Breezie), my first thought was "menstrual belt". I've never seen or heard of one made of mesh like this, but you know what they say about the mother invention. And if I may quote Breezie from a previous thread on the topic, "Sometimes the invention can be a real Mother." :wink: ;D

Just my thoughts.
