At first I thought I had something here when this popped out of the ground . you can imagine how my ATPro was screaming 88, 99, crazy I scratched it thinking it was a rock . It was only 2 to 4 inches down ... it is about 2 and a half pounds of cast brass i,m thinking possibly some type or ornamental top of something a flag pole ? a fence post ? why would it be so heavy 1/8 inch thick and you can see in one picture the structure inside like a ridge with a hole in it . when I place it down the weight or balance is away from that hole or opening ... driving me nuts .. to find out what this might be ... the ground and area I,m hunting is old for sure found a flat button and researched site definitely old area 1700 1800 but also 1900 ... any ideas or if anyone has seen this type of ball would be majorly appreciated ha .. Jim B ( Dumpsite Digger ) ... at very 1st I was thinking cannonball but read they where not made of brass too expensive and soft ..
