Detector(s) used
Deus
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Found this yesterday on another good hunt which ended when that storm rolled through the finger lakes drenching me and the Deus. Close visible lightning strikes scared the crap out of me as I made a quick egress nearly a half mile with pockets full of metal and carrying a metal detector and metal digging tool which basically turned me into a walking lightning rod. A full chevron bead has always been on my bucket list and I have only ever found 2 halfs in total with today being the second, go figure. The bent brass rectangle with 2 holed drilled not punched is some sort of adornment, my guess is a pendant. I am thinking the pointy bent thing is an awl. There are 2 pieces of kettle scrap in the pile which look like scrapers. I found that nice light colored point right as the storm rolled in. The largest pottery shard is about 3 inches in length. I took the off center blue trade bead picture because there is a pottery shard in situ as well in the left corner. I think that white object is a broken wampum tube bead.

Sweet natural native history there mate. Gotta' admit your post gave me a nice ROFLMAO and quite the visual in my crazy head of you galloping through the woods lightning bolts creeping up your backside!:sign10:MAO!!! Thanks for sharing the cool finds and the well written post.:icon_thumright:

Nice selection of finds! Now that the rains have hit there's a great chance of more eyeball finds.

Awesome hunt and finds. The guys n gals over in the Native American Artifacts Forum would like to see these too, if one of the admins would like to link it over?
Looks like a great site, good luck to you for continued finds there.

I'm glad you guys like them! Yeah I was legitimately scared on my way back to my car both for my safety and for my electronics which were drenched. During and right after the rain are my favorite times to go so I am planning on going back Friday for some eyeballing like pepperj said and to grid another part of the site. I agree that a good place for this thread is in the native American section. I posted in the today's finds because more people view that section and they were recent finds but it makes more sense for a permanent home in the NA section for reference. Should I start posting there?

cool finds keep digging

Nice finds! I like that perfect triangular Late Woodland period point.

Keep digging for sure and thanks for sharing, what a spot!

Looking like Friday is a no go because of the storm coming maybe Sunday hopefully.

Hope you can find some great stuff after the storm! Sorry, I've should have start by saying stay safe, sorry lol.

Lol yeah. I planned to take off work this Friday weeks in advance so I could go up. Well, I'm not going out there in the storm after that last experience.

I'm with you on this one, wife and I got scared to death too, few years ago. We were sh()*&ing bricks while running like mad to the car :laughing7:

YOU WAMPUM GOOD AND HOWWWW> NICE FINDS.
