The Banner system needs a major overhaul.
Seems like they let slip major finds quite often.
Maybe let a 6 panel member of experts decide on what
Makes banner.

Very nice find, very banner worthy in my opinion also, love finds like this. Congratulations

I agree that almost any reasonably verified 18th century or earlier silver items, including some coins, deserve to go banner. Banner vote in

Most excellent trade silver find. A holy grail trade item in fact! Congrats

Congrats it says banner by your profile, I just dont see it up yet ?? Very nice save on a great piece of history.

Pardonner moi.

Bonjours in responsible for the forum. I am French-speaking, me does not understand English.
But I am an enthusiast of detection. I found this historic bracelet and I was convinced that my find would go straight ahead has the banner.
I does not understand which one not there. I see finds not history on the banner why? I am vague of your decision.
I like to share my finds but I believe that it is the small group which decides.
knew to You that I use a translator. Forgive I.

Guy your finds are always top notch. BANNER for sure. Keep up the good work pal.

Definitely deserves a banner. Only seen this one in the museum.

That's why I will say it again,
The Banner system needs a major overhaul.

There is no point worrying about why you didn't make banner.

I honestly wish they’d just do away with it altogether. It seems like it’s more of a distraction than anything else. I have a collection of personal BANNER finds. That’s what’s important at the end of the day. One thing I’ve learned about this hobby is people like what they know. Most people don’t live in area where they can find super early coins and relics. To expand on this a little bit....I think the coins will always get some attention but I’ve seen incredible early relics just pass on by with little attention. It’s hard to get people excited about something when there’s basically zero chance of them ever finding it where they live. I have dug prob 200 Large Cents in the few years I’ve been detecting. I could dig one every time I went out if I wanted to. Lots of people would kill for a Large Cent. It’s all about perspective. People get super excited about an 1877 Indian Head or a 16d Merc or a low mintage late 1800s silver. I’m not saying these aren’t great coins....they clearly are. But I’ve seen Mass silvers get passed over for BANNER with less than 500 known to exist. I dug 10+ pre 1750 coins in one hunt including a scarce regal error farthing and an incredible 1749 real. Found a pewter shoe buckle and a complete pewter spoon on the same hunt. This day for me was an absolute grand slam. It can’t get much better. Esp considering it was at my ancestors mill site. But that doesn’t make it a BANNER hunt to other people. At the end of the day I have all of these finds in my collection. A BANNER will work its way across the top of the screen and be gone in months. I will have these special finds for the rest of my life. That’s what’s important. Btw this is absolutely a BANNER find lol

It has been debated on why/why nots of something that goes up or more importantly why it doesn't. What each posting does (of any item) provides a recorded piece of history that was lost and now found.I'd like to believe that I live in the Fur Trade route area. But I might be blind to the fact that the trade items never traveled by my doorstep. Each hunt I go out on I dream of getting a piece of this remarkable history from one my many permissions that border a waterway that the Indigenous used for centuries and hunting the fields that run along the waters edge keeps my hopes high that I will fulfill a lifelong quest to get even a little piece of Trade Silver.
To recover a piece like Guy has recovered -well that would be like digging up a can of gold coins.
